Son of Véronique Zuber, actress and model, elected Miss France in 1955 and of Ted Lapidus, one of the iconic designers of the 70s. His aunt, Rose Met, founded the Haute Couture brand Torrente.

From his parents, Olivier inherited two passions: cinema and haute couture. After a stint in preparatory classes (hypokhâgne), he graduated from the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.

It was at Balmain Homme that he made his debut. In Japan, he was soon designing collections distributed in 350 stores of the Miki group.

Asked in 1989 to take over the artistic direction of the Couture House founded by his father, he remained there until 2000. The date on which he became independent.
